Delicious Foods Organized into Simple Arrangements

Some people might think it's crazy to spend 15 minutes arranging lime slices on a countertop. Not me! There are always about 7 limes in my fridge so featuring them in a photograph was inevitable. The simplicity behind the images below is exactly what makes them interesting. The combination of light, repetitive patterns, and symmetry make for one delicious-looking photo.

They are both part of a new series that I'm just starting out. Can't wait to see where this food inspiration takes me...

Happy Hearts

I hope that everyone enjoyed a very happy day yesterday!! Since it was our first Valentine's Day as a married couple, Steve and I celebrated in style. First, we got up super early and ventured off to a local Brooklyn diner for a delicious waffles breakfast. In the afternoon, I received a lovely surprise delivery from Steve - a huge and colorful flower arrangement! Then the evening involved a cheesy rom-com, fancy champagne cocktails, and delicious heart-shaped treats baked by yours truly. If you know me, you know this was quite the accomplishment. I hope that each and every day in our future is as good as yesterday was! xoxo

Sunsets and Seashells

Last summer, I had the great opportunity to work with author Emily Morgan on her Next Time You See book series from NSTA Kids. Emily had three photographers working on the project. Seth Patterson focused mainly on the up close and personal nature shots and Judd Patterson provided a variety of landscape photography. As the third photographer, I produced a selection of images that featured children and adults interacting with sunsets and seashells. Below are the images that were selected for use in the book.

So, the next time you see a beautiful sunset or come across a crazy looking seashell on the shore, remember Emily's message that "you don't have to look far to find something remarkable in nature." You can check out both books on Amazon.com by clicking the titles below.

Scanner Bed Photography

Check out this really unique fashion shoot by photographer Henry Hargreaves and this experimental collection by Whitney Justensen - love love love! I have been lacking inspiration lately so I took a page from the book of these artists and began working on a few still life images of my own, using objects around the house and a scanner. These two shots have an outer space sort of feel. Hopefully this project will spark a bit of Hoz motivation and creativity in the next few weeks.
