Delicious Foods Organized into Simple Arrangements

Some people might think it's crazy to spend 15 minutes arranging lime slices on a countertop. Not me! There are always about 7 limes in my fridge so featuring them in a photograph was inevitable. The simplicity behind the images below is exactly what makes them interesting. The combination of light, repetitive patterns, and symmetry make for one delicious-looking photo.

They are both part of a new series that I'm just starting out. Can't wait to see where this food inspiration takes me...

Springtime for Katie

After many cold and rainy days here in NYC, it's time for spring dammit! These dark, wintery days are too depressing, I need some sunshine and I'm ready to break out my flip flops. So here's a little flower power to inspire the month of March to bring on some fabulously warm days and sunny weather!

Experiments with Color

Here are a few experiments that mix variations of color with random things I have around the house. The toys came from the "tree of fun," a fake tree in our living room where we retire miscellaneous items that should really be thrown away. Other items in the tree of fun include an old cell phone, mardi gras beads, a shamrock headband, a multi-colored slinky, a stuffed flamingo, and hot pink duck beads. Perhaps these will be the subjects of my next still life.

In the meantime, I thought these bits of color could brighten this dreary day in NYC. Check out the duckies and the piggy in my Etsy shop. Happy Friday!
